Meet Noah Sturdy

My interest in construction began at a very early age. At the age of 10, I started “Noah the Labourer” doing work for neighbours, and discovered the benefit of working hard at whatever task I was given. At sixteen, I excelled in everything trade related in high school, including metal works, wood working, autobody and mechanics. At 16, I managed a dock with 90 houseboats in Sicamous BC, where I learned how to track multiple projects and excel in customer service. Soon after, I travelled in Costa Rica, and cycled New Zealand and Australia, where I was employed refurbishing sail boats.

I knew construction was my calling. I combined that interest with my love of the marine environment to earn an Associate of Occupational (AOS) Degree from the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building, Port Townsend, Washington.

From there I have constantly sought to improve my knowledge of all aspects of the construction industry, using my woodworking skills to make surfboards and paddleboards on the side. From working on boats and living in trucks limited in space, I enjoy being creative with space efficiency.

My career in construction began with employment building homes in Tofino, BC from 2005 and then becoming Foreman for commercial construction projects in Whitehorse Yukon, from 2014. I moved to Nanaimo in 2018 and took to the sea once again, working on tug boats. I was able to observe and hone my marine navigation skills, as well as develop problem solving skills with limited resources above and below deck.

In 2021, I launched Sturdy Home Repair of Nanaimo, putting all my experience and expertise to use in my own business. My ability to fulfill the dreams of homeowners is the result of my creative approach to problem-solving and being able to turn a client’s vision into reality.
